Forbes reports that Aldi, a German discount supermarket chain, plans to invest $9 billion to open 800 new stores in the US by 2028. This expansion will be partly fueled by their recent acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, which includes Winn-Dixie and Harvey Supermarket brands. Aldi will focus on the Midwest and Northeast while also entering new areas like Las Vegas. With this acquisition and planned stores, Aldi will have nearly 3,200 stores in the US by the end of the expansion.
